Dawn's BioDawn was born and raised in San Diego. Her father is a Naval officer, and her mother is a homemaker. She has two brothers, Jeff and Travis. Since childhood, Dawn was exceptionally beautifully and was urged by family friends to try modeling. Nevertheless, her mother encouraged her to focus on her schoolwork and playing with her friends, fearful that her daughter would associate herself only with her looks. When Dawn was a teenager, however, her mother let her enter the Miss San Diego beauty pageant. Dawn won, going on to become Miss California, and later, Miss America. It was at the Miss California pageant that Dawn met Gary (he was the host) and became friends with him. At 15, Dawn entered modeling. She convinced her best friend, Angie, to model, too. They met Dale and Glori on assignment and the four became inseparable. Dawn was extremely successful as a model, appearing on the cover of most major fashion magazines. The perfume Lamé, was designed for Dawn, to leverage off her immense popularity.

After her reign as Miss America (which she privately lamented, as her life was so restricted during that year) Dawn took some acting parts. She appeared in Thelma and Louise. It was around this time when she opened her own modeling agency. She had previously owned a dress shop, but sold it when she realized her excitement was really in finding new modeling talent. She discovered (among others) Denise, Daphne, Maureen, Dinah, and Melanie. She also gave model Longlocks her break as a fashion photographer, allowing Longlocks to launch a new career. While Dawn is a clever and motivated businesswoman, she has continued to model from time to time. Her look has an ageless quality that has served her well. Dawn's compassionate nature and her deep interest in people has earned her many friends. She often assumes the role of gentle counsellor, and everyone knows she's always available for a friend in need. For fun, Dawn enjoys cruising in her convertible, hosting intimate dinner parties, hanging out with gal pal Angie, and shopping. She adores dancing. Dawn almost married Gary, but that's a story for a Dawn Tale. Disclaimer: These bios apply to the Dawn dolls who live with me--your dolls may have different stories.
