Glori (side-part)Glori, the youngest of three, grew up in a conservative town in Colorado. She was a free-spirited child who just didn't fit in this kind of environment. She wanted to express herself through song and dance, but unless she meant church hymns and the Foxtrot, her family was not encouraging. When she was eighteen, Glori left home to seek her fortune. She and her friend Diana decided to drive to California, but their car wasn't up to the task. It broke down in Las Vegas. Without any money (and not feeling safe to hitch-hike) the girls couldn't travel on. Luckily for Glori, her audition for a dancing job gained her the notice of the show director, and soon she was working as a showgirl. The feathers and beads appealed to her, as well as the dancing, but Glori never warmed to the Vegas environment. After a couple years and some less-than-pleasant experiences, Glori and Diana resumed their original plan and continued on to California. Glori chose San Francisco, where her cousin had settled. Glori worked at Topper's department store, while she attended dog grooming school. Now she works at Ruff Trade on Noe. She loves working with dogs, though the job is tiring. On weekends, Glori sings at a local nightclub. She favors torch songs and smooth jazz. Sometimes Maureen accompanies her with the saxophone. Every so often Glori gets wild and does some exotic dancing at Club D's women's night. Glori runs regularly to stay in shape, and is a member of the San Francisco Frontrunners group.
