Melanie's Bio

Melanie was born and raised in San Jose, California, to a middle class family. In high school, she spent time as an exchange student in Paris, which gave her an exposure to art that she previously did not have. She became passionate about art--both in viewing the work of new artists, as well as creating her own.

When she returned to the states and graduated high school, she spent some time at a local community college earning her Associate Arts degree. She realized, however, that what she really wanted to do was to attend the San Francisco Academy of Art. This would have remained a dream (as her family couldn't afford it) but for her chance meeting with Dawn. Dawn was struck by Melanie's classic beauty, and insisted she meet with her at the model agency the next day.

Dawn was able to launch the modeling career that financed Melanie's education all the way through graduate school. Juggling modeling with school, it took Melanie a little longer to get through the art program, but she made it, and in the meantime became a successful and sought-after model.

After several years of hard work, Melanie achieved her dream, being named curator of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA).

Melanie is a introspective woman. She enjoys long walks, quiet retreats into nature, and most of all, painting. To stay fit she plays tennis with Dale. She has a passion for avant garde movies and cheesy vampire flicks (luckily shared by Glori, her movie-going pal). After all the art openings she has attended, she's developed a taste for fine wine and goes wine tasting a couple times a year in Napa Valley.

Melanie lives in the Diamond Heights area of San Francisco.
