Restyling Long Falls (for Head-to-Toe Dolls)

Sandy and Lisa, from alt.collecting.topper-dawn newsgroup, offered these suggestions for restyling the long fall from Head-to-Toe dolls. Thank you both for giving me permission to include your tips on this page!

Method One

Sandy Drago restyles her Head-to-Toe falls as follows:

  1. Put a ton of conditioner on the htt fall and leave it set for 15 min.

  2. Use a very wide spaced comb to start with and comb it out under running water.

  3. Once I get most of the big tangles out, I use an oval pin brush.
When brushing the fall make sure you have a tight hold just before the head piece. Start brushing at the bottom of the fall and work your way up.

  4. Once the fall is tangle free then I wash with dish soap brush to style and done.

I have used a curling iron with a small rod and on a very low set, and gave a fall lots of Shirley Temple curls!!

Method Two

Lisa (Sheezbusy@aol.com) restyles this way:

  1. I wash Dawn's falls in warm water with Pert Plus.

  2. Then I use a lot of conditioner and comb through with a wide tooth comb.

  3. Rinse the conditioner out, being careful NOT to re-tangle the fall.

  4. Using a perming paper, or plastic wrap, cover the ends of the hair and then wrap around a hair pin.

When doing a fall I section the hair into 5-6 sections.

  5. Fasten the curl with an elastic band.

  6. Submerge the curl part of the hair into boiling water for 5 minutes.

  7. Remove and immediately submerge the hair into ice water for another 5 minutes.

  8. Blot dry well with a paper towel.

  9. Carefully remove the hair from the hair pin and you will have beautiful curls!!
This works very well on re-setting Daphne's hair.
