Lola

I'm a smart and sexy brown and white tabby with soulful eyes.

Birthdate: Around October 1, 2000

Nicknames: Lola Pie, Baronness von Lola, Drama Queen, Little Miss Sensitive, Poor Baby Lola, Lola the Poet, Lovely Lady Lola, Lola the Buttercream Rose (pretty to look at and yummy to eat up!)

Favorite toys

  • Tinselly squishy balls (especially the magenta ones!)

I love tinselly balls. Mom is trying to replace these with squishy and crinkly balls which are not the same thing! She goes on about how I'll get the tinsel caught in my intestines or something. And she says I worry!

I like to carry my tinselly-squishy ball in my teeth and drop it next to Mom, so she can throw it for me. I play this game for an hour or two straight.

  • Mom's buckwheat pillow.

She likes to sleep on it, but I like to pounce on it - day or night! Anything that sounds even remotely like buckwheat is something that I want to jump on. Let's just say that switching to Litter Pearls didn't work out.

  • Cat Charmer (long rainbow fabric thing on a clear acrylic rod)

I love this toy so much that I will grab the rod in my mouth and run through the house with it. Tilly always ruins the game, though.

Favorite Games

I enjoy scrambling up our six-foot tall kitty condo and chasing Tilly around.

Personality

I'm a little insecure and need lots of assurance. I know Mom loves me best, but I kinda need her to prove it all day.

I am a sensitive girl with the soul of a poet. I think about things a lot. Mom says I'm a worrier. I don't need as much sleep as anyone else, because there's things to be done. And if there aren't things to be done, I'll find things to do. Somebody's got to keep on top of everything.

My Relationship with Mom

I'm Mom's favorite. I'm sure of that. Just to reinforce this, I jump on her lap several times a day for a purring love fest. Sometimes she sings to me, and that makes me purr louder. I give her love bites when I'm really excited.

I sleep with Mom all night long. Tilly used to not come to bed until Mom woke up (slacker!) but now she stays pressed up against Mom from bedtime until morning (interloper!).

My Relationship with Tilly

She's impossible! She's always stealing my toys while I'm playing with them. She sits in Mom's lap as thought she doesn't already know that it's my spot. She sleeps too much. She doesn't think anywhere near as much as she should.

There are rules in life and you need to follow them. But Tilly never does--she acts like there are no rules. It's my job to put her in her place.

Sometimes she's nice to me and gives me a bath, but then when I look in the mirror, I find she's licked all my fur sideways and made me look like an idiot.

Tilly can be fun to chase around. And she's pretty good to nap with, as long as she doesn't start acting like a pervert and try to nurse off of me.

Special Talents

I am a master with the pout expression. In fact, I have a pout already tattooed on my lips, so that when I'm tired I don't have to work as hard.

I'm good at flattening myself to crawl under furniture. Although I've been dipping a bit too often into the kitty treats, and so I'm not attempting those low overhead clearances as much. See my gallery.

I write poetry. No, really, I do. Mom even put my poems online!

When I'm playing, I can make my tail really, really bushy. I make a cool Halloween cat.

Quirks

I love to look at myself in the mirror. I put my paws against the tall standing mirror in the bedroom to tilt it down toward me...then I paw at my reflection.

When I'm excited, I snuffle like a puppy.

Lola and Tilly are here thanks to the volunteer efforts
of the Home At Last rescue organization.
